Mountain biking and swimming welcome the hearing impaired

To mark International Ear Care Day and the start of the Cape Epic 15-22 March 2015, Southern ENT would like to encourage those suffering from hearing loss to live Life to the fullest. Taking up a sport means getting fit, making friends and feeling good about yourself. There is no reason why it shouldn’t be enjoyed by everyone, including those suffering from hearing loss. Especially now that waterproof options are available for cochlear implants!

 

Gears for Ears

The annual Gears for Ears mountain bike event raises funds for people suffering with hearing disabilities. Gears for Ears director Alan Hook, himself once suffered from hearing loss, but his Life changed after having a cochlear implant operation. Gears for Ears aims to bring the same miracle to others suffering from hearing loss.

The Cape Epic

The eagerly awaited new route of the twelfth edition of the Absa Cape Epic will cover 739km with 16 000m of climbing from the University of Cape Town to Meerendal Wine Estate in Durbanville. This is just one of many exciting events on the cycling calendar, but one for a great cause!

International Ear Care Day

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), hearing loss is the most common sensory disability globally. In view of the prevalence, preventability and public health impact of this condition, 3 March is observed as the International Ear Care Day. Southern ENT would like to encourage people to “Make Listening Safe” so that they can keep on hearing. & if you suffer from hearing loss – Southern ENT is here to help your journey be a smooth as possible.
